DSC_0107Partners for Democratic Change Serbia, in cooperation with the Bar Association of Serbia, organized a Mock Trial in accordance with the new Criminal Procedure Code. The mock trial was held in Belgrade, on Saturday, March 14th 2015. The aim of this trail simulation is to present attorneys and attorney-trainees with the skills related to opening statements and closing arguments, direct and cross examination, as well as to point out the changed role of the Court in regards to the new CPC. For the first time, this entire interactive exercise was filmed and it will be used for the E-learning program, as a unique teaching material for further training and education of program’s users.

This simulation is a part of the project ”Serbia Criminal Defense Capacity Program – CDCP”, implemented by Partners Serbia in cooperation with American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI), and in cooperation with the Bar Association of Serbia, and supported by the US Department of State / Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).

The roles of judges in this hypothetical case were given to Jasmina Mikic and Veljko Delibasic, PhD, attorneys from Belgrade, and Blazo Nedic, member of Partners Serbia team, while over 20 attorneys and attorney-trainees from Belgrade and Novi Sad had the opportunity to play the roles of prosecutors, defense attorneys and witnesses.

The video of this simulation will soon be available on the E-learning platform, and the behind-the-scenes from the set of this trial can be seen in our photo gallery.
