Konkurs - small engPartners for Democratic Change Serbia, in cooperation with the Bureau for Social Research (BIRODI) and Law Scanner, are announcing a public call for local civil society organizations (CSOs) in Serbia for submitting proposals aimed at improving transparency and accountability of public authorities in local communities.

The Call is a part of the Project Future of Freedom of Information in Serbia (FFIS) - Strengthening Capacities of Civil Society and Young Generations for Defending the Right to Know, implemented with the support of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia. The Project aims to support the implementation of the transparency and accountability standards in Serbia, by improving the legal framework in the field of public right to know, and by empowering CSOs and young people to defend this right.

The objective of the Call is to increase capacities of local CSOs in Serbia to investigate and address issues of local transparency, openness and accountability of local public institutions.

The sub-grantees will be required to participate in a capacity building training, perform monitoring and produce reports on sectorial implementation of FOI standards in their respective local communities.

Implemented sub-grants will ultimately lead to:

  • strengthened capacities of local CSOs to utilize FOI tools in their respective fields of interest, as well as their monitoring and reporting skills;
  • increased awareness of citizens in local communities on key FOI-related challenges affecting local transparency, openness and accountability of local public institutions;
  • improved mechanism for local transparency, openness and accountability of local public institutions. 

Sub-grants are expected to be implemented from September 2018 to July 2019. The total amount dedicate to sub-granting scheme will be 35.000 Euros, with sub-grant amounting up to 8.000 Euros per organization. The amount of the sub-grant will be determined based on the proposed scope (number and type of areas covered) and methodology of the monitoring activities.

Deadline for submitting applications is May 30, 2018.
