The overall goal of the Project is to preserve the achieved level of the right to access to information of public importance, as well as to improve it, in relation to the actions state-owned for-profit enterprises.

The Project contributes to:

  • Overcoming the obstacle of lack of transparency of state-owned for-profit enterprises, by obtaining information about their work from other official sources
  • Recognizing the most significant effects of excluding for-profit enterprises from the scope of the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance, by mapping the types of information that are becoming unavailable to the public
  • Better level of awareness and greater engagement of civil sector and independent media in the public control of of the work of for-profit enterprises

For-profit enterprises are amongst the entities that most often violate the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance. The Project will test the alternative ways for obtaining official information about the work of for-profit enterprises. The findings will be presented to all interested acters from the civil and media sector, while promotional materials will be developed and distributed to the public, pointing out the problem regarding the lack of transparency of for-profit enterprises, and provide advice on how to monitor their work. The research will include the work of for-profit enterprises operating in the Republic of Serbia. The Project will last 12 months and will be implemented by Partners Serbia Project and Research Team.
