Protection of Privacy and Presumption of Innocence in the Media

As a part of the project “Protection of Privacy and Presumption of Innocence in the Media”, and with the support of the Open Society Foundation, Serbia, since 2015 Partners Serbia analyzes media contents in regard to respect of the two rights, but also addresses the issue of preventing the leakage of data from criminal proceedings to the media. Since June 2016, Partners Serbia, together with the Association of Public Prosecutors and Deputy Public Prosecutors of Serbia, has worked on enhancing communication of public prosecutor offices with public, as well as improving the data protection measures in these offices.
Within the same project, a group of students and professors of the Media Studies, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Novi Sad, monitored the online and off line media contents and assessed the treatment of privacy rights and presumption of innocence.
This Conference aims at informing the professional and general public on the achieved results, and discussing the need for improvements in relevant fields. Recommendations and Guidelines for enhancement of communication of public prosecutor offices with public and improving the data protection measures will be presented at the Conference. In addition, students and professors will present the results of media monitoring, together with the most illustrious cases of violation of privacy and presumption of innocence analyzed within the Project.
