Partners Serbia is proud to present Report “Mediation in Law Schools in Serbia”. This Report is a part of the Commercial Mediation in Serbia project (the Project), implemented by the European Centre for Dispute Resolution (Slovenia), Partners for Democratic Change Serbia, ADR Center (Italy), and ADR Group (UK), in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia (CCIS) and the Judicial Academy, and with support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and UK Investment Climate and Governance Fund.
This two-year Project aims to improve the use of mediation in commercial disputes in Serbia by improving capacities of mediation service providers, and increase awareness of potential beneficiaries (companies, citizens) about the benefits and advantages of mediation in dispute resolution. The Project will increase capacity of the Centre for Services and Mediation of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia (CCIS) and future mediation trainers in the CCIS and Judicial Academy will be trained.
In addition, the Project will provide support to several law schools in Serbia to include mediation clinics in their regular curricula. The Analysis presented in this Report aims to evaluate the type and content of the existing mediation training programs, and assess mediation training needs within major law schools in Serbia.
The Report also includes current legislative framework for mediation in Serbia, basic principles of the “legal clinics” in Serbia and the US, and best international law school mediation and ADR programs.
We hope that this Report will further support development and introduction of new mediation programs in law schools, including mediation legal clinics, as well as further promote implementation of mediation as a peaceful dispute resolution method in Serbia.
We believe that will find the information included in this Report useful, and are looking forward to receiving your questions, comments and suggestions.
